EMT Industrial Emergency Response & Rescue
Position Overview
On-site EMT and industrial rescue professional providing 24/7 emergency preparedness, prevention, and response at SSAB's Muscatine, Iowa facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to on-site emergencies including EMS, safety, and technical rescue incidents
- Performs all duties related to EMT levels as outlined by Iowa EMS State Regulation and/or EIS Medical Direction.
- Recognize, prevent, and mitigate safety hazards before and during emergencies
- Maintain apparatus, equipment, and vehicles in ready-to-respond condition at all times
- Participate in ongoing training, education sessions, and incident pre-planning activities
- Complete and maintain accurate records related to personnel, incidents, and related documentation
- Support daily site operations including housekeeping, rescue equipment maintenance, and ensure vehicles & apparatus are ready for immediate response
- Contribute to safety department programs including injury prevention and pre-planning initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Iowa EMT-B license required; Illinois EMT license a plus
- Ability to work a 2-2-3 rotating schedule including overnight shifts
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a team-first mindset
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations
- Prior industrial, manufacturing, or fire/rescue environment experience preferred
Certifications & Requirements
- Required Iowa EMT License (EMT-B)
- Preferred Illinois EMT License
- Preferred Technical Rescue Experience
